Do you wish to know your eligibility in OINP International Student Stream?

You have landed on the right post to get the information you need to know about your eligibility for OINP and other application needs.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) International Student Stream is a pathway for international students who have graduated from eligible Ontario post-secondary institutions and want to live and work permanently in Ontario, Canada.

Here's everything you need to know about the OINP International Student Stream:

  • Eligibility Criteria:

  • Graduation: You must have completed at least half of your studies in Canada and graduated from an eligible publicly funded Canadian college or university.

  • Duration of Study: You must have studied full-time for at least two years (or equivalent) in Ontario.

  • Job Offer: You need a job offer in Ontario that meets certain criteria. This job offer must be in a NOC (National Occupational Classification) Skill Type 0, A, or B occupation.

  • Legal Status: You must have legal status in Canada (i.e., a valid study permit, work permit, or visitor record).

  • Intent to Live in Ontario: You must intend to live and work in Ontario after obtaining permanent residence.

  • Job Offer Requirements:

  • The job offer must be full-time, permanent, and paid at or above the low wage level for the occupation in Ontario.

  • The job offer must be directly related to your field of study in Ontario.

  • Your employer must have been in business for at least three years and have a minimum of $1,000,000 in gross annual revenue if located within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), or $500,000 in gross annual revenue if located outside the GTA.

  • Application Process:

  • You need to create an online profile through the OINP e-Filing Portal and submit all required documents.

  • Once your profile is submitted, you may be invited to apply based on your score in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) if you have also applied for Express Entry. If you're not in the Express Entry pool, you can still apply directly to the OINP.

  • If invited, you will have 45 calendar days to submit a complete application, including all required documents.

  • Selection Criteria:

  • The OINP uses a points-based system to assess candidates. Points are awarded based on factors such as education level, language proficiency, work experience, job offer, and ties to Ontario (e.g., family in Ontario, previous study or work experience in Ontario).

  • Meeting the minimum criteria doesn't guarantee an invitation to apply. Candidates with higher scores are prioritized.

  • Processing Time:

  • Processing times for the OINP International Student Stream can vary. It's essential to monitor the OINP website for updates on processing times.

  • Permanent Residence:

  • If your application is successful, you will receive a provincial nomination from Ontario. With this nomination, you can then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence.

  • The permanent residence application process involves medical exams, background checks, and additional documentation.

  • Changes and Updates:

  • It's essential to stay updated with any changes to the program's eligibility criteria, application process, or requirements by regularly checking the OINP website or consulting with immigration professionals.

The OINP International Student Stream provides an excellent opportunity for international students who have studied in Ontario to transition to permanent residency and continue building their lives in Canada. However, meeting the eligibility criteria and submitting a thorough application are crucial for success.
